How to use the Chat GPT image generator

A few words are all it takes to get started.

01

Write your image prompt

Describe the picture you want: the main subject, its setting, the composition, and the visual style. Start with text alone for a new image. You can also add a reference if you have a picture that should guide the result.

02

Choose your canvas and quality

Pick Flare or Sunburst, select square, portrait, or landscape, and choose Standard or Detailed quality. The canvas determines the image dimensions. Check the displayed credit total, then sign in with Google to create your image.

03

Review and download your image

Preview the finished picture and check the details at full size. Download the PNG from the result or My creations. If you want a different direction, change one part of your prompt and create another version.

ONE STUDIO. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.

Turn a written idea into an original image

Describe an illustration, a product concept, or a social graphic in your own words. The Chat GPT image generator turns your brief into a new still image. Start with the subject and composition, then add lighting and style. Preview the result before downloading, and refine one instruction at a time when you want another version.

DESCRIBE THE PICTURE BEFORE YOU CREATE

Get more from the Chat GPT image generator

A clear image prompt makes your visual idea easier to evaluate. Build the description around what matters most, then add a few supporting details. You do not need a long paragraph for every picture; a short, specific brief is a useful place to begin.

Put the subject and composition first

Name the person, object, animal, or scene that should be the focus. Explain whether you want a close-up, a full-body view, or a wider composition. Add the position of important objects and leave space for anything you plan to add later. This helps turn a broad idea into a picture you can judge against a clear brief.

“A glass of lemonade with a lemon slice on a white café table, close-up at eye level, glass on the right, empty space on the left, soft afternoon light, fresh editorial photography.”

If the composition feels crowded, remove a secondary object or simplify the setting before changing the whole prompt. Keep the subject recognizable at the size where you plan to use the image.

Describe a consistent visual style

Choose a visual treatment such as watercolor illustration, studio photography, or soft 3D artwork. Add lighting and a limited color palette if they matter to the project. Several conflicting styles can make the direction harder to follow, so decide which qualities are essential before adding decorative instructions.

“A curious red fox sitting beside a small fern, rounded shapes, warm terracotta and sage palette, textured storybook illustration, simple cream background, square composition.”

Use the result to decide what to keep. For the next version, change the palette, viewpoint, or background separately so you can compare the effect of each revision.

Plan for text and small details

If a picture needs words, quote the exact phrase and describe its placement. Short text is easier to inspect than a page of tiny labels. Check lettering, faces, hands, and repeated objects at full size before publishing. Requesting a detail does not guarantee that every part of it will be reproduced correctly.

For a layout that needs precise typography, you can leave empty space in the generated artwork and add final wording in your usual design tool. When an existing picture needs one targeted change, switch to the AI image editor and specify the features you want to preserve.

START WITH THE IMAGE YOU NEED

Text-to-image ideas for your next project

Use the Chat GPT image generator to explore an illustration, a visual concept, or a social graphic. Match the canvas to the destination and review the result as a draft before deciding how to use it.

Illustrations and character concepts

Describe a character’s appearance, pose, expression, and setting. For a series, keep a written style brief and review each result for consistency. Reusing the same description can guide the next image, but it does not lock every detail or guarantee an identical character across separate creations.

Product and editorial concepts

Explore a background, a lighting setup, or a composition before a larger design project. Use the generated picture to communicate a direction. If it represents a real product, compare shapes, labels, proportions, and colors with the actual item before using the artwork in a public listing or campaign.

Social posts and simple graphics

Choose square for a centered post, portrait for taller artwork, or landscape for a wide header concept. Leave room around the subject for cropping and later captions. For more about model choices and the studio’s other creative tasks, explore the ChatGPT Images 2.6 guide.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER

Image generator questions, answered

What is this Chat GPT image generator?+

An independent text-to-image studio where you describe a picture and generate a new image using ChatGPT Images 2.6. You can choose a model, canvas, and quality in the form above. This website is separate from ChatGPT and is not affiliated with OpenAI.

Is the image generator free to use?+

Creating images requires credits. A Standard text-only image costs 8 credits and Detailed costs 12. Choose a monthly plan, a yearly plan, or a one-time credit pack. The exact total is shown before creating; a ChatGPT subscription does not include credits here.

What image sizes and download format can I choose?+

Square images are 1024 × 1024 pixels, portrait images are 1024 × 1536, and landscape images are 1536 × 1024. Still-image downloads are PNG files. Standard and Detailed change quality, while the canvas determines these dimensions.

Can I use a reference picture instead of text alone?+

Yes. Add a PNG, JPEG, or WebP reference up to 10 MB and explain the result you want. Reference-based still-image creation uses the editing rate: 14 credits for Standard or 18 for Detailed. For a specific change to an existing picture, use the Edit image tab.

Can generated images contain readable words?+

You can request text by placing the exact wording in quotation marks and describing where it should appear. Review every letter, spacing, and punctuation mark in the result. Generated text can contain mistakes, especially when several labels or small captions are requested.

What should I do if the image misses my idea?+

Compare the result with your prompt and change one instruction at a time. Try a clearer subject, simpler background, or more precise composition. Failed generation tasks receive automatic credit refunds; a completed image that you want to revise is not the same as a failed task.

Can I use my generated image in published work?+

Use outputs subject to our terms and applicable rights. Check depicted people, trademarks, product details, and any reference-image permissions before publishing. Review the finished file yourself; a generated concept may need further editing for its intended use.
